ESPN showdown invites best poker players to Vegas
The Tournament of Champions, which gathers the world's best poker players, is to take place in Las Vegas on Thursday. The winner of the competition will take home a $2 million prize.
The tournament boasts ten top-notch players for this No-Limit Texas Hold'Em event, which is to be shown Sept. 21 on ESPN. But the results wont be performed before the broadcast on the cable channel.
According to Signonsandiego.com, the players include four past World Series of Poker champions: Greg Raymer, Doyle Brunson, Johnny Chan and Phil Hellmuth. Other competitor are to be Annie Duke, T.J. Cloutier, Phil Ivey, Howard Lederer, Daniel Negreanu and Chip Reese.
Raymer, called "Fossilman", 39, is a patent lawyer from Stonington, Conn. He won this year's World Series and beat out a field of 2,576 in May to win the prestigious event.
The Tournament of Champions is provided by Harrah's Entertainment.
