Did NBS's The Contender score a knockout on Monday?
The Contender fails to beat TV contenders at once
The Contender, a new TV reality show , initiated by NBC to support its unprecedented weak ratings, has failed to capture substantial audience during its first two performances. The long-awaited boxing show is supported by reality TV king Mark Burnett, who stands behind sensational Survivor and The Apprentice. However, the leading Hollywood producer didnt manage to break through with his brand-new creature and snatch loyal TV viewers of Fox and CBS. So The Contender didn't score a knockout on Monday, but those much-hyped NBC reality series isn't on the ropes, either.According to Nielsen Media Research data, the competition between three major TV companies Fox, CBS and NBC is very close and they do their best in order to win in the battle for TV viewers. NBC has become the third in the TV ratings race followed by ABC with its Boss Swap and Super Nanny. Having been rescheduled a few times, The Contender drew a weak 5.6 million viewers on average during its 90-minute broadcast despite it was featuring popular action star Sylvester Stallone.
Running the comedy Two and a Half Men and CSI: Miami, CBS was a close second gathering 12.5 million and 15.3 million viewers on average, reported CNN. Fox captured 15.3 million viewers due to its extremely popular show American Idol.
The Fox's Idol is one of few events, which boasts the active position of its viewers who are looking forward to supporting their candidates by betting on them. The bookies say that wagers on the show have become an impressive part of the total bets accepted during the recent time. According to the current listings, viewers are likely to vote in favour of Anwar Robinson (5/2), followed by Mario Vasquez (3/1) and Bo Bice (4/1). The trio leaves behind their close competitors Carrie Underwood listed at 5/1, Vonzell Solomon at 8/1 and Nadia Turner at 8/1, said Oddschekcer.com.
