Poker News: GUTSHOT RULING LEAVES LOOSE CANNON SPORTS BAR AND VC PLAYERS LOUNGE IN POLE POSITION IN LONDON’S POKER WORLD
The landmark court ruling which said that Europe’s biggest poker club, the Gutshot in Clerkenwell, London had contravened the Gaming Act, has revolutionised the British poker scene, leaving fully legal establishments such as The Loose Cannon and VC Poker Lounge as the best poker venues of choice for players.
The running of the Gutshot was outlawed by a jury at Snaresbrook Crown Court who ruled that, because poker was essentially a game of chance, the club was contravening the Gambling Act by charging players a levy on winnings.
Commenting on the ruling, Roy Houghton, Games Director of The Loose Cannon said:
“The Loose Cannon Sports Bar and The VC Players Lounge is a new private members club in central London that is completely legal. The club refuses to charge for games or tournaments and offers additional access to backgammon, bridge, kalooki or chess in its exclusive games room.
