Million Dollar Baby star Hillary Swank is allegedly going to fight a $187 fine for illegal bringing fruit into New Zealand. The Oscar-winning actress was subjected to immediate withdrawal as she failed to decalre allpe and orange in her luggage as she landed at Auckland airport on January 15.
The Million Dollar 'boxer' reacted in aggressive way asking her lawyers to contest the 200 New Zealand dollars fine imposed by local officials. The lawyers are to appear in Manukau District Court next week and settle on the issue.
Swank, 30 has become one of plenty tourists unaware of New Zealand rules. The USAtoday reported, that the country keeps its free-of-pests order imposing automatic fines for foreign fruit and other food that may bring in diseases that could damage its agricultural industries. The prohibition applies even to olive wreaths won by the country's 2004 Olympic medalists.
Swank also won a best-actress Oscar for the 1999 movie Boys Don't Cry.
