Russian billionaire banker and gambler Andrei Melnichenko has invited a number of actor celebrities for his 36-million dollar wedding in the south of France : Whitney Houston, Christina Aguilera, Julio Iglesias and his son Enrique. They all performed at the celebrations which took place this weekend.
Melnichenko has paid Christina Aguilera 2 million pounds ($3.6 million) to perform three songs at the celebration of his nuptials with former Miss Yugoslavia Aleksandra Kokotovic, the Mirror newspaper reports.
The Forbes ranked Andrei Melnichenko at 514th position in the worlds list of richest people in 2004.
His primary asset is the MDM Bank, which is one of Russias ten largest, but Melnichenko also controls a sizeable stake in electricity monopoly Unified Energy Systems. His Siberian Coal and Energy Company, or SUEK, produces more than one-third of Russian coal used for energy production. And his chemical company Yevrokhim is one of the largest producers of mineral fertilizers.
