Virgin Games: Negreanu is likely to win World Poker Open
The tenth stop of the World Poker Tour known as World Poker Open started at the most popular spot to play near the Mississippi River, the birthplace of poker. According to Virgin Games, Horseshoe and Gold Strike Casinos saw 512 players aspiring to try their hands in the prestigious tournament.
This years competition draws a lot of poker players due to its substantial rewards. Buying a $10,000 seat in the tournament the player has a chance to win $1,511,282 and to advance to the WPT World Championship when the Tour's season culminates at Bellagio in April 2005. This year collected $5,120,000 total prize pool, a $1,664,950 increase over last year's event that saw 367 players, Virgin Games spokesman said.
Season Three's total prize pool has already topped the $30 million mark at $39,339,510, an $18,782,614 increase over Season Two stops to date. Many famous poker players have ventured to take part in the high-stakes event, including Chris Bigler, Doyle Brunson, Gus Hansen, Kathy Liebert, Carlos Mortenson, Daniel Negreanu etc. Their poker combat covered by the WPT Final Table television is scheduled to come to its end January 27.
We think that Daniel Negreanu has the best odds to capture the year award of the World Poker Tour. He might be followed by three of the best in the game with Men The Master Nguyen, Gus Hansen and John Juanda. However, other poker gurus like Barry Greenstein, Phil Ivey, Scott Fischman, Antonio Esfandiari, and charming Annie Duke seems to be a real eye-catcher!
