British World War II veteran to visit Moscow thanks to lottery win
UK resident Ted Bagly, an 82-year-old World War II veteran, won the best lottery present for his great experience. He got a free ticket to the Russian capital Moscow, which is still a symbol of the victory in World War II. The lottery was set up by Aeroflot, the Russian airlines, at the Russian Winter festival in London.
Lottery winner Ted Bagly and his 57-year-old wife Eva live in a northern suburb of the British capital London and try to attend various events related to Russia, reported the Russian news agency RIA.
"My wife, Eva, and I are going to use this opportunity to visit Russia in May, when the country will celebrate the 60th anniversary of the victory in the World War II," said the lottery winner, who served as a military man in the "northern convoys" of the Royal Navy to deliver military and civil cargo to Russian ports of Arkhangelsk and Murmansk.
The veteran and lucky lottery winner has never been to the former Soviet Union or new Russia. "I can only say that we are receiving more recognition from the Russia, than from our own government," the veteran added.
