Lottery asks police to help settle down ticket scandal
The Hoosier Lottery announced that it asked state police to review its handling of an alleged scheme to cash in on a winning $1 million ticket.
Lottery Director John M. Ross explained that the company wanted a review in order to reassure the public of the lottery's integrity.
According to Casinocitytimes.com, this week Marion County Prosecutor Carl Brizzi filed criminal charges against a former lottery security officer and two other men accused in the fraud. Brizzi said lottery officials had made no effort to report the scheme to authorities, who learned about it from an informant.
Ross commented on such accusations that lottery was conducting its own investigation. The gambling operator didnt consider the evidence was strong enough to involve an outside agency.
