Swinomosh tribe to build big resort near casino in WA
Skagit Valley Herald reported about the plans of the Swinomosh Indian tribe to build a big resort, probably to be called Swinomish Lights Resort, near their casino on their territory in the state of Washington.Swinomish Anacortes casino is located in the western portion of Washington State and operated by the Swinomish Indian Tribe. The Swinomish Indian Tribal Community is located on Fidalgo Island (gateway to the San Juan Islands) in Skagit County of Washington State about 70 miles north of Seattle. Skagit Valley Herald informs: "Swinomish leaders have big plans for the northern end of the tribe's reservation east of Anacortes a new resort with its own marina, condominiums with views of Padilla Bay and an indoor water park for the kids. "Although many details of the complex have yet to be decided, the Swinomish leadership has agreed to some key features of the project and hopes to begin construction as soon as possible, said Marty Loesch, a tribal attorney and spokesman. If all goes as planned, the resort, expected to cost between $10 million and $15 million depending on its final form, should be completed by mid-2006. "A hotel and condominium tower will provide lodging at the complex, which will be located to the east of the tribe's Northern Lights Casino. Plans also call for an indoor water park with several slides and a 36-slip marina. "The complex is one of three Washington resorts currently being built by Plan B Development LLC."
