Spike develops TV casino program for young players
U.S. network Spike TV released online casino programming through one of its shows. The project, called Midnight Spike, targets the young male audience of twenty and thirty age groups, which is expected to be hugely interested in online casino gambling.
Casinomeister.com reported that GoldPocket provided for Midnight Spike the program with interactive technology, which enabled viewers to wager using virtual money on the results of certain challenges staged throughout the show. The system also allowed Spike Casino's viewers to gamble on traditional casino games including roulette, slot machines and craps.
iTV-functional set-top boxes and logging in via the Spike TV website let the users access the interactive casino. The viewers will see their updated points on leader boards shown in real time. But if the user tunes out the program, the system will void his/her accumulated points.
