Rapper ODB dies at 35
New York, Nov 15 -- The hip hop community and entertainment world is mourning the sudden loss of one of its most outrageous personalities, Wu-Tang Clan member Ol Dirty Bastard, who died on Saturday November 13.
Ol Dirty Bastard, born Russell Jones, complained of chest pains before collapsing Saturday outside a Manhattan recording studio. ODB was dead by the time paramedics arrived according to a spokesman for Roc-a-Fella Records.
An autopsy on Sunday was inconclusive and the cause of death won't be known for about 10 days.
Ol Dirty Bastard, also known as Dirt McGirt and Big Baby Jesus, made a name for himself as a member of the legendary hip hop group The Wu-Tang Clan, and stood out even within the iconic nine-member Wu-Tang Clan with his off-kilter deliveries and outlandish rhymes.
Ol Dirty Bastard was a founding member of The Wu-Tang Clan, a hip-hop collective that revitalized hip-hop with its 1993 debut, Enter the Wu-Tang.
Ol Dirty Bastard was in the studio recording a comeback album for Roc-a-Fella Records. No word was issued on whether or not that record will ever be released.
