WINFIELD, W.Va, Dec. 24 A sad twist of fate: 17-year-old Brandi Bragg, the only granddaughter of Jack Whittaker, was buried in Winfield, West Virginia, today, almost two years after his record lottery win. It was a splendid but sorrowful funeral.
Jack Whittaker is a contractor who won a $314.9 million Powerball lottery jackpot on Christmas Eve 2002. Whittakers win is the biggest jackpot ever won in the United States. He took a $113 million lump-sum payment.

A person who knew 17-year-old Brandi Bragg says it was too much money that did her in.
A woman who once took care of Brandi said the 17-year-old had her own apartment and two luxury S-U-V's. Whittaker blames her "drug-using friends."
