Father sold his sons’ Christmas presents to GoldenPalace.com on eBay
An Antigua-based online casino GoldenPalace.com yesterday paid $5,300 to a Texas man who sold off his sons' Christmas presents on eBay. The 41-year-old father said he auctioned three Nintendo DS systems because they do not deserve these expensive presents.
Each boy - aged nine, 11, and 15 - had an opportunity to receive such a splendid gift. But their misbehaviour upset the father and he decided to post the items on the eBay auction website.
The three systems, together with three games were accompanied with the following posting: "No kidding. Three undeserving boys have crossed the line." According to BBC, the man said that his son would not stop fighting, swearing and making obscene gestures. Santa never gives presents to naughty children and it explains the father’s decision.
Monty Kerr, spokesman for GoldenPalace.com, said since posting the proposal on eBay, the Texas man has averaged one e-mail every five seconds. "He got some pretty threatening e-mails to the point he's not identifying his family's name," Kerr said. "He said it's been pretty split. Every other e-mail he gets has been supportive or threatening. He doesn't want to subject his family to that kind of split opinion."
According to Chron.com, the parent did not want to discuss the auction that got close public attention. He decided to remain anonymous. However, Kerr said that the money raised from the game system sale will pay for a new heater at Trinity Baptist Church, where the family worships in Pasadena. He added that the game systems will be donated to needy children selected by the parents and the church.
