Record lottery jackpot still brings misfortune to Jack Whittaker
Jack Whittaker: $315 million lottery win still brings misfortune
It is not a murder, it is unlikely to be a homicide. Why 17-year-old Brandi Bragg, the largest lottery winners granddaughter, died is still unclear. Its rather a result of a drug overdose
Brandi Bragg's body was found Monday wrapped in in a sheet and plastic tarp behind a junked van near the house of Steve Crosier, her boyfriend's father. The girl's body was identified by tattoos on her neck. Crosier told on Monday in a brief conversation outside the house: "All I know is she OD'd and Brandon freaked out." She was last seen alive by family members Dec. 4 and the autopsy revealed she died the next day. Police were awaiting results of a toxicology report, which was expected to take at least a week. No charges have been filed. Brandon is the main person of interest as he is believed to have moved the body from the residence to the van.
Brandis grandfather, Jack Whittaker, is a contractor who won a $314.9 million Powerball lottery jackpot on Christmas Eve 2002. Whittakers win is the biggest jackpot ever won in the United States.
In September 2004, an 18-year-old friend of Whittakers granddaughter was found dead at his home. Whittakers house was burglarized when the dead body was still laying inside. That death is still under investigation. Whittaker was out of town at the time.
Earlier, Jack Whittaker had $100,000 in cash stolen out of his car and had more than $500,000 robbed at a topless bar. The largest lottery winner has been arrested for drunk driving. Also, he once threatened to kill a bar owner. Related articles:
