Hungarian gov't warns e-gamblers
The Hungarian government recently released a warning to its citizens involved in online gambling and confirmed the official position regarding gambling activity. Hungary, which was the latest European country to deliver such a warning, emphasized that Internet wagering sites contravene the country"s Gambling Act.
According to Onlinecasinonews.com, the Gambling Supervision (SzT), a Hungary"s regulatory body, is currently investigating the activities of several sites. "We believe the internet-based service of gambling sites violates the Hungarian Gambling Act in several ways," László Oravecz, department head at the Gambling Supervision, told the Budapest Business.
Since current legislation doesn"t support gambling, players participating in online gambling can"t have their prizes to be legally claimed within Hungary. "Participation, in certain cases, may also qualify as a breach of law and may lead to legal proceedings," Oravecz stressed.
