Golf, Buick Open betting odds: leader Nick Watney v Tiger Woods, Jim Furyk, Geoff Ogilvy
Tiger Woods followed up his victory at the British Open and eight straight rounds in the 60s with a 1-under 71 Thursday in the first round of the tournament, as PGA Tour rookie Nick Watney shot a bogey free eight-under-par 64 to grab the lead after the opening round of the 4.6 million dollar PGA Buick Open. .
It was hard to make a case against Tiger Woods in this weeks Buick Open.Sure hes only 2/1 (11/5 in our Enhanced Win Only market), and is playinghere to please his Buick sponsors, but theres never been a hint of him notgiving his best in this event. As a previous winner, and a massive 93 underfor his six appearances, hes sure to be in contention on Sunday, and looksan absolute must for any staking plans this week. Further down the bettinglist, there is a distinct lack of top names to topple Tiger, but one thatjumps out is Jim Furyk at 12/1. Jolly Jims record is even better thanTigers (96 under for his last 24 rounds!) and, with finishes of 2nd and1st in his last two PGA Tour events, he looks an each-way steal at thatprice. Another player with excellent course form is Geoff Ogilvy - 70 orbetter in 11 of 12 rounds at Warwick Hills, including a 2nd place finish in2003. Plus, he comes here on the back of a top-5 finish at St Andrews so,at 33/1, has to be worth a few quid each way (1/4 odds 1.2.3.4.5).
