FleetCenter becomes GoldenPalace.comCenter for one day
Online casino GoldenPalace.com has seen its brand as a new name for the FleetCenter according to the naming rights contract between the gambling operator and the grand concert hall in Boston. Online casino won a bid for one-day naming rights on eBay auction with $35,099 offering.
Antigua-based company Golden Palace.com has appeared during the game between the Boston Celtics and Memphis Grizzlies. Gambling operator also has been displayed on the FleetCenter's website and has greeted callers to the concert halls automated phone system.
"This childhood dream come true for all of us at Golden Palace," said spokesman for online casino Monty Kerr. "We're all fighting to see who gets the four seats."
According to Boston.com, GoldenPalace.com made its first and only bid on Monday, beating "redsox 1804," by $100 in the auction that ended at 6:15 a.m. Tuesday. The online bid was settled by arena owner who is intending to replace the FleetCenter name, made obsolete by Bank of America's $48 billion acquisition last year of the former FleetBoston Financial Corp.
