Gizmondo to release mobile gaming system in the US

Gizmondo officials say the company is about to launch a mobile gaming system of the same name.Gizmondo’s mobile gaming device (still not named properly) enables customers play games, listen to music and communicate via net by e-mail – all on the move.

Less-than-$400 Gizmondo’s mobile gaming device, with an eight-way D-pad that has left and right triggers and four face buttons, will be provided with 400 MHz processor, advanced graphics and a high-resolution TFT screen. It will enable downloading high quality, multi-level games remotely through a mobile phone network or by using an SD card. This feature will provide a truly mobile gaming. Moreover, thanks to built-in GPS technology, Gizmondo mobile gaming device will provide another dimension for gaming and will help motorized customers find new places through mapping directions and guiding them turn-by-turn.

Gizmondo is expected to be released in the United States in spring 2005.

Gizmondo officials claim the company intends to set the standard for mobile gaming.
