Morgan Freeman wins Best Supporting Actor Oscar for 'Baby'
67-year-old Morgan Freeman has just won the 77th Annual Academy Award in the Best Supporting Actor category for his role as the onetime prize fighter and quiet voice of reason in Clint Eastwood's boxing drama "Million Dollar Baby." It was fourth Freemans nomination for Oscar. Moergan Freeman was a clear favourite to win the Best Supporting Actor Oscar, having been nominated three other times. Freeman is only the fourth black performer -- after Louis Gossett Jr., Denzel Washington and Cuba Gooding Jr. -- to clinch the film industry's top honor for a supporting actor.
The other Oscar nominees for Best Supporting Actor were Alan Alda for "The Aviator," Thomas Haden Church for "Sideways," Jamie Foxx for "Collateral," and Clive Owen for "Closer."
Minutes earlier "The Incredibles," an animated story about a family of superheroes who come out of retirement to save the world, won the Best Animated Feature Film Oscar.
