Kidman-Crowe romance Eucalyptus: filming postponed
Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe wait for changes in the script of the Australian feature Eucalyptus, a new romantic film, as shooting has been postponed. Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe are back in their native Australia to star in a romantic film Eucalyptus directed by Jocelyn Moorhouse. At present time the stars are rehearsing - the shooting was scheduled on Monday, Feb. 7 but has been postponed due to the changes in the script. Fox Searchlight Pictures president Peter Rice said: "After consulting with all the creative elements involved in Eucalyptus, we have collectively agreed that the screenplay is not where we need it to be. For that reason, we are postponing the production." Eucalyptus is based on the award-winning novel by Murray Bail and tells the story of a New South Wales widower, who plants hundreds of varieties of eucalyptus trees. The widower declared that only that admirer who can distinguish each of the eucalyptus species will win the hand of his beautiful daughter Ellen.
Nicole Kidman and Russel Crowe, writer-director Jocelyn Moorhouse and producer Uberto Pasolini wrote in a statement: "Despite everyone's efforts during recent days and weeks, the script of Eucalyptus needs more work. Unfortunately our availability prohibits us from completing this work at this time. Therefore, we have agreed that the best thing to do is to postpone shooting until the project's foundation is solid."
Filming of Eucalyptus is to take place in the northern New South Wales township of Bellingen.
