Las Vegas, NV - Team Bodog member John Cook, whose Bodog.com screen name is Big Dog, has placed in the money at the World Poker Tour Championship at the Bellagio Casíno.
Bodog.com Sports Casíno Poker sponsored his trip to Vegas and his seat at the WPT Championships after he won the Kickoff Classic tournament on Bodog.com in September 2004.
Cook is an engineer for Lockheed Martin and father of three who lives just outside of Washington, DC in Springfield, Virginia. Cook finished 94th in the tournament, giving him $30,000 in winnings. The winner of this event will take away approximately $2.8 million.
“How I survived to 94th position – I have no idea; I made only a couple of mistakes, that luckily weren’t too costly, my play was very conservative, but next time my guns will be blazing, I’ll be shooting for the final table,” said Cook. “Thanks for the stake, Bodog; it was a blast.”

The WPT Championship field includes the best the poker world has to offer, including two-time world champion Johnny Chan who was eliminated by Cook early in Day 2. Chan pushed all in for $30k with pocket queens and was called by Cook with AK. An ace hit on the turn.
Bodog.com will be sending many more players to top tournaments. In May, the site will kick off a ‘Seat a day in May’ WSOP tournament where daily winners will get a guaranteed WSOP seat. These tournaments likely represent players’ best shot at qualifying for the WSOP.
