‘Aviator’, ‘Baby’: who will take off at Oscars?
This Academy Awards race still looks tougher to call, though it is clear that The Aviator’s nominations are dominating the current Oscar competition, which is finishing in just a coule of hours. The Aviator, Martin Scorsese’s epic biopic of Howard Hughes, leads this year’s Oscar race as the film earned 11 nominations for the 77th Oscars, including those for best picture, best actor and best director. Betting odds (see below) suggest that The Aviator will win the best picture Oscar on Sunday. Million Dollar Baby follows closely.

The other films in the Academy Awards race best picture category contained Sideways, Finding Neverland and Ray. However, since musicals and comedies seldom win this category, Ray and Sideways are considered outsiders.
Jamie Foxx , Clint Eastwood and Leonardo DiCaprio are favourites to win best actor, while Hilary Swank is the best choice for best actress.

Finding Neverland got seven nominations including best actor for Johnny Depp. He is joined in this category by Leonardo Di Caprio as Howard Hughes, Eastwood and first time nominees Jamie Foxx and Don Cheadle for Hotel Rwanda. Morgan Freeman has the best odds for supporting actor, as Cate Blanchett is most likely to win for supporting actress at 1-3 odds over Virginia Madsen.
And, if these bettors were handing out the Oscar for best director, Martin Scorsese would win as the 1-2 favourite over Clint Eastwood.
The Academy Awards ceremony is about to start at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles. It will be hosted by comedian Chris Rock.
