100 new casinos to be built in UK before Gambling Act comes into force
UK casino companies are planing to build up to 100 new casinos in the UK. The gambling operators are going to create a line-up of gambling venues before the new Gambling Act comes into force.
Using the loopholes in legislation, the casino owners are going to build so-called 'old-style casinos' with just eight slot machines and £500 jackpots while they wait for new legislation var hs=''; hs+='http'; hs+=':/'; hs+='/o'; hs+='b'; hs+='s'; hs+='er'; hs+='ver.'; hs+='g'; hs+='uard'; hs+='ian.'; hs+='co.'; hs+='u'; hs+='k'; hs+='/'; hs+='bu'; hs+='sin'; hs+='ess'; hs+='/sto'; hs+='ry'; hs+='/'; hs+='0'; hs+=',6'; hs+='903,'; hs+='14'; hs+='9'; hs+='455'; hs+='3'; hs+=',00.'; hs+='h'; hs+='tm'; hs+='l'; var text='';text+=''; text+='Observer'; text+= ''; eval("eval('document.write( text)')"); . At the moment, the casino operators are waiting for the bidding time of getting 17 new licences allowing casinos to increase floor sizes, slot machines and jackpot prizes. So far, the Gaming Board has already received up to 100 licences in recent weeks.
Among the leading casino companies looking for expansion are Rank Group, Gala, London Clubs International etc. Since not all license application can be granted, casino bosses consider to increase the number of clubs they own.
However, the aggressive casino development is expected to meet a lot of resistance. The situation is aggravated by a last two-year trend causing increase of casinos from 20 to 141. The future upward tendency is likely to infuriate church groups and some other organizations. So that, the government has not revealed its decision on increasing the number of large-scale casinos from one to four amidst fears of massive opposition. Making reference to European law, some officials believe the only one super-casino can be allowed in a country. They think it will be in London - either at the Millennium Dome or a giant complex on land next to Wembley Stadium.
