While there are a number of blonde jokes going around, this one is especially amusing. Two women finished up their days at work. They were friends and often got together at the end of the day to chat and compare day's events. After a quick trip to their respective homes to change and relax for a bit, they decided to go out for a drink at a local bar they both enjoyed and frequented. As they sat down at the bar and ordered some chicken wings, the six o'clock news came on. Both of the ladies turned their attention to the television screen.
The news anchor did a quick recap of the day's events, none of which were particularly interesting to the women, before going to a report on an individual in a dangerous situation in the city. The news anchor explained the circumstances of the story in a grave and concerned voice. A choppy scene from a helicopter transmitted the image of a man threatening to commit suicide. He was perched precariously on the edge of the Brooklyn Bridge and did not seem to be making any attempts to get down from the ledge upon which he was standing. Below him, a team of emergency response teams were working feverishly to get the man to come down off of the bridge. They were yelling at the man, offering him their arms, begging him not to end his life.
Sipping her Margarita, the blonde woman placed a bet with her red-headed friend. "I bet you fifty dollars that many will not jump from the bridge." The red-head smiled and accepted the bet. "You're on! Fifty dollars!" She confirmed, matching her friend's bet.
As the news continued, the man who had been standing on the bridge so consumed with anguish gave up all hope and leapt from the bridge, plummeting into the water. Removing fifty dollars from her purse, the blonde handed the money over to the red-head and shook her head sadly, upset that the man jumped. The red haired woman smiled at her friend and made a confession, "I can't take your money. I saw that story on the five o'clock news and knew what was going to happen before you placed that bet with me." The blonde woman insisted her friend take the money. "No, a bet's a bet. Besides, I saw the five o'clock news too; I just couldn't imagine that he'd jump again!"
