Golden Casino is one of the most popular online casinos.  This is a Curacao licensed casino and they have just announced that they will no longer be accepting wagers from people who reside in the US as and from the 1st of December 2009.  This is sad news for residents of the United States but according to news sources this is in fact a bid to comply with current US internet gambling laws.  I’m not sure whether I agree with this or not but this is what is going to happen.

This online casino has been running for more than ten years and they revealed that all existing players would still be able to login, play the online casino games and cash out their winnings.  They also stated that affiliates would continue to be paid on existing referrals.

Golden Casino is currently being sold and once the new ownership comes into play this online casino will no longer accept new players.  This starts from the first of December 2009.  According to rumours that are circulating the internet the reason for excluding US players from the new casino is in a bid to adhere to US law enforcement officials and by excluding US players the new owners will therefore be trying to avoid prosecution under the very unpopular Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006.

This is bad news for US players who enjoy online gambling at Golden Casino and whilst they can still log in and play who knows what will happen once the new ownership takes over.  If I were to give my personal advice to these players I would suggest that they cash out whatever winnings they currently have on the Golden Casino website and start looking for a new online casino to play at that will allow US wagers.

This is sad news but I suppose the new owners want to stay on the right side of the law.  It makes me grateful to be living in Europe where these laws don’t apply.  What do you think of this law and the ban on US players?  Do you think they should be allowed to take part in online gambling?

Until next time,
