Twitter is a really successful website and a great way to get word out.  The Poker Players Alliance (PPA) grassroots advocacy group has launched a campaign called Tweet For Poker in an effort to get the Congress to ratify pending legislation that would license and regulate online poker.

The Poker Players Alliance has more than one million members throughout the United States and it is urging all poker enthusiasts to visit their Tweet for Poker website so that they can directly contact their Members of Congress.  According to the Executive Director for the Poker Players Alliance John Pappas there are so many active poker players online and they are weighing in on the policy battles that impact their right to play.  He also went on to say that the Tweet for Poker campaign is the Poker Players Alliance’s most instant and dynamic tool for their members to directly contact their legislators in a way that engages the public to the debate. He also stated that they are really proud of the instant success and look forward to hearing what the elected officials think of the legislation and this new advocacy programme.

Tweet for Poker allows all twitter users to voice their opinion and directly target their Member of Congress using a very unique platform that matches a person’s twitter account with that of their elected official.  Senators are being asked to support legislation that has been introduced by Senator Robert Menendez while House of Representatives Members are being encouraged to support a bill introduced by Representative Barney Frank.

It is all getting very heated and of course twitter is a very good way to make contact and get the word out there.  If you want to take part in this campaign all you have to do is enter your zip code for the Senate or your postal address for the House of Representatives and the website will automatically redirect them to their Legislator’s twitter account and all the important information that they need will already be included.

I guess we will have to wait and see how this campaign plays out but it seems to be a great way of getting the message out and making people stand up and listen.  What do you think?  Is twitter a good way to launch a campaign?  Over 200,000 letters and emails have already been sent to Congress and during the National Poker Week over 375,000 signatures were collected on a petition for President Obama calling for the licensing and regulation of online poker.

The popular online social networking website Twitter has just launched its first gaming application.  TwitterIngo which is based on the game of bingo is set to cause quite a stir.  Instead of using number, TwitterIngo uses words.   This new application has been developed by Definition 6 who are an Atlanta based interactive marketing agency.  TwitterIngo is in fact a desktop widget application that gives its players a set of 25 keywords that have been taken out of a pool from the tweets that have been posted by their followers.

The new game is only being played once a week at the moment and this is on a Tuesday at 3pm New York time.  There is no cash prize being offered to the winner but they do however get the I Won TwitterIngo badge which they can then display on their Twitter page, website, or Facebook page.

Definition 6 have also stated that they will be displaying a leaderboad that will list all the players that have been involved in the games and that this will soon be available on the TwitterIngo page.  This could be the next great Twitter thing but I’m not sure what to make of it.  While I do enjoy online gambling and playing online bingo, I haven’t quite grasped the concept of TwitterIngo and the fact that it uses words instead of numbers.  How do you win?  How do you play?

You need to go to the TwitterIngo website if you are interested in finding out more and see how you can join in on the Tuesday action.  I don’t know whether or not this new game will take off and only time will tell.  If you have a twitter account why not do a search for TwitterIngo and see what other people are saying about it, and if you take part in the next game and would like to tell us about it we would be delighted to hear it.

Until next time,
