The public notice from the United States government when you visit Poker Stars website can be daunting. The temporary seizure of the domain had many United States players in a frenzy back in April wondering what would happen to their deposits. Thanks to a helpful FAQ published on the site from the PokerStars staff, you can rest assured that your funds are safe.

Your Money Is Safe When You Get It Is Different

According to the information on the Poker Stars FAQ created for US residents, your funds are safe. The company is chartered in the Isle of Man, where players funds must be kept separate from company operational funds. Since PokerStars complies with this policy, your funds are safe and secure. This goes for all player deposits regardless of your jurisdictional status.

How Can I Access My US Player Account Funds?

The US Department of Justive and PokerStars have come to an agreement and are allowing US players to cash out their real cash money account. There is a publicly available agreement which you can find on the website, and if you have any questions about how to cash out details are available. We have no word on how long it takes to go through the process available as of this date. You can login and use the PokerStars Cashier as you typically would from all current reports.

A retired policeman has triumphed in the Poker Stars challenge and walked away with the top prize of one million dollars.  This extraordinary event came as a retired New York City policeman beat the top professional player Daniel NEgreanu in a head to head on the Poker Stars Million Dollar Challenge that was held live on television.

The winner, 53 year old Mike Kosowski, revealed that he took up online poker playing out of boredom after he retired from the police force in 2004.  He used a combination of good cards and his ability to read people to claim the top prize.  He told the New York Post newspaper that his win is unbelievable and that he is still on an emotional high.  He says that he is continuously asking himself if he is living a dream.

Mr. Kosowski has seen his share of disasters and was actually one of the first officers on the scene following the World Trade Center terrorist attacks eight years ago.  He was in fact helping to evacuate survivors when the South Tower collapsed.

When being interviewed about his amazing win, Mr. Kosowski stated that his wife has encouraged him to pursue poker as a way to occupy his time and she was happy for him to enter the 16,000 person online tournament at Poker Stars where he finished in fourth position.  By finishing in fourth place Mr. Kosowski was then eligible to submit a video to the programme’s producers explaining why he would make a good television contestant for the show.  He was asked to be an alternate and was flown to Los Angeles where the show was being filmed.

Mr. Kosowski was fortunate enough to get to play and he ended up winning two consecutive four person qualifier games in order to end up meeting Negreanu in the head to head.  According to Kosowski he just got lucky but he has researched his opponent by reading his book and watching him on the television.  He also said that he even figured out Negreanu’s tell.

After winning such a huge amount of money Mr. Kosowski has stated that he plans to pay off his mortgage and donate some of his winnings to charity also.  It is an absolutely fantastic win and it has made my life so much easier too.  I never dreamed that I would beat a pro but it just goes to show that it can happen and I am proof of this.

If you are an online poker enthusiast then I’m sure this story is great news to you and who knows you could be the next big winner too.

Poker Stars online gambling website is offer a really special deposit bonus to all their new players.  When you register you can now get something extra and this is two special deposit bonuses.

The first of these special bonuses from Poker Stars is a full first time deposit bonus of up to $600.  This special bonus offer is only available for the next 6 months and in order to get your hands on it you have to use the promotional code STARS600.  You can still get the full $600 by making up to three deposits and then the additional money will be released in ten dollar increments.  This is done at a clearance rate of 17 VIP player points per one dollar of bonus money.

This is not the only bonus that Poker Stars are offering their players.  They are also offer a 50% reload bonus that is up to $300.  This bonus can also be spread out over three deposits but you have to ensure that these deposits are made within 90 days of your first eligible payment.

All players have a full six months in which they can earn their bonus amount in full but they must use the promotional code WCOOP.  I don’t know about you but I don’t find this deposit bonus particularly exciting especially when you take a look at some of the great promotions that are being offered by other online casinos.  There are some casinos that are offering real no deposit bonuses and you can keep your winnings too.  This Poker Stars promotion might be good for people who like to gamble with a large sum of money but for people who are new to online gambling and just want to see what all the fuss is about I don’t think that this promotional offer is going to be of use to them.
