In today’s post I want to talk about multi-table online poker tournaments. These are said to be the ultimate when it comes to tournament experiences. In these online poker tournaments you get to play against hundreds of different players for a share of the winning prize pool. Buy-ins for these tournaments can also start as low as 10c and go as high as $200.
Multi-table tournaments can have up to 999 players and they mirror the way real world poker tournaments are played. Each of the multi-table tournaments will have a set start time and day and players register in advance to play. When you register you need to pay your buy-in fee and a 10% registration fee so if you are playing in a $1 tournament you would end up paying $1.10.
When the tournament starts each player will have the same number of chips and will be assigned a random seat at a random table. The number of tables available is a reflection of the number of players registered and each table sits 9. As the tournament progress players will get knocked out and some of the tables will be closed. When this happens players are reseated to ensure that the tables remain balanced. Eventually you will end up with just 9 players at the final table where they will match their wits against each other until one person ends up with all the chips.
One of the great things about online poker multi-table tournaments is that the buy-ins are used to form a prize pool and everyone is playing for a share of this. This pool is determined by the amount of the buy-in fee and the number of players playing. If we use a $10 buy-in fee with 450 players taking part then the prize pool will be $4,500. The winner will take home approximately $1,200 and the runner up will get $765. Not bad really when you think about it.
In tomorrow’s post we will talk about satellite tournaments.
Until next time,
