As you probably know, the 2009 Asian Poker Tour Macau Festival in being held and I can now reveal that Korea has triumphed at the inaugural JBet Battle of The Nations event. This winning team consisted of Brandon Wong and the Poker Pack pros who are David Rheem and Steve Sung. Together they managed to get 106 points allowing them to win the overall team championship. This also resulted in a cheque for a whopping $52,386 before the final table had even begun.
The team that represented Vietnam was made up of three brothers, Nam Le, Tommy Le, and Allan Le, and these guys finished in second place after scoring 89 points.
The winning team stated that they were delighted to have won this amazing prize and that they didn’t think that they were going to be the winners.
The top two individual awards in this tournament went to members of the Vietnamese contingent and the two lucky players were Allan Le who won the top player prize and received $12,346 and his brother who was a Poker Pack member Nam picked up $6,734 for his efforts and received second place. Third place was David Rheem from Korea and he picked up an additional $3,367 on top of his share o the overall prize.
The JBet Battle of the Nations was the ninth side event in the Macau Festival and other participants in this event included the 888 Poker Team Australia who were sponsored by 888.com. This team had James Potter as their captain and also featured the 2009 Aussie Millions main event winner Stewart Scott.
Other great players that took part in this event were David Steicke, Johnny Chan, Vivek Rajkumar, David Chiu, Theo Tran, JC Tran, Quinn Do, and Nam Le. It was an excellent event and some really great action all round.
