Rome Casino have been telling their players that they can now use their American Express card to deposit and withdraw funds from their online casino. Well the credit card firm American Express have released a statement that rubbishes this claim. Their statement clarifies their position when it comes to processing payments from online gambling websites after they discovered that a number of posts about what Rome Casino was promising their players.
Vice President of Corporate Affairs and Communication for American Express has hit back and rubbished Rome Casino’s claim and this has also been followed with a legal notification that Rome Casino have to remove their credit card logo from their website. American Express have also gone on to say that any merchant that is found to be in violation of this policy will be terminated immediately from card acceptance. American Express have sent legal notification to Rome Casino stating that they are not authorised to accept the American Express card nor are they authorised to use their marks on their website.
After reading this I can bet that many of you are weary about even registering with the Rome Casino website. I know I am. If they can lie about their deposit and withdrawal methods what else can they be telling fibs about? As you probably know, the 2009 Asian Poker Tour Macau Festival in being held and I can now reveal that Korea has triumphed at the inaugural JBet Battle of The Nations event. This winning team consisted of Brandon Wong and the Poker Pack pros who are David Rheem and Steve Sung. Together they managed to get 106 points allowing them to win the overall team championship. This also resulted in a cheque for a whopping $52,386 before the final table had even begun.
The team that represented Vietnam was made up of three brothers, Nam Le, Tommy Le, and Allan Le, and these guys finished in second place after scoring 89 points.
The winning team stated that they were delighted to have won this amazing prize and that they didn’t think that they were going to be the winners.
The top two individual awards in this tournament went to members of the Vietnamese contingent and the two lucky players were Allan Le who won the top player prize and received $12,346 and his brother who was a Poker Pack member Nam picked up $6,734 for his efforts and received second place. Third place was David Rheem from Korea and he picked up an additional $3,367 on top of his share o the overall prize.
The JBet Battle of the Nations was the ninth side event in the Macau Festival and other participants in this event included the 888 Poker Team Australia who were sponsored by 888.com. This team had James Potter as their captain and also featured the 2009 Aussie Millions main event winner Stewart Scott.
Other great players that took part in this event were David Steicke, Johnny Chan, Vivek Rajkumar, David Chiu, Theo Tran, JC Tran, Quinn Do, and Nam Le. It was an excellent event and some really great action all round.

Poker in the Park was a huge success and almost 20,000 people from all over the UK merged onto London’s Leicester Square last week for this annual festival. There were plenty of free tournaments, live tutorials and chances to learn from the professionals.
Poker in the Park is Europe’s largest annual poker event and it was held from noon on the 13th August to nine thirty in the evening on the 14th of August. The sponsors of this event were PKR and in addition to being sponsors they also hosted tournaments that featured a number of the UK’s top pub leagues in their Poker Dome.
Unibet held another part of this event which was the Poker Lecture marquee and this is where some of the world’s most successful poker players addressed the crowds during a series of talks that were given. Jamie Gold who won the World Series of Poker in 2006 spoke on both days of this festival and he also hosted his Charity Tournament in the Casino At The Empire on Thursday evening. Other speakers at the event included Peter Eastgate, Neil Channing, Paul Jackson, Ian Frazer, Nik Persaud, John Tabatabai, Liv Boeree, and Alex Rousso.
Littlewoods Poker were also present at the festival and they had their own Littlewoods Poker Tuition Tent where players could come and compete against celebrity players including Mark Goodwin, Michael Greco, and Tony Cascsarino.
Bluff Europe also has their very own Heads Up Tent where people were offered the chance to pit their wits against each other on the PokerTek Heads Up Challenge electronic tables and they were introduced to the PTG Poker from Prime Table Games.
