First Euro-Lottery produces $19 mln win
The first ever Euro-Lottery drawing 13 February 2004 granted to a French man a massive $19 million win. This was launch of the prototype of the European Lottery, the world´s first trans-national lottery. Punters from France, Spain and UK participated so far. Euro-Lottery is also known as Euro Millions.
The 2 Euros ticket was purchased in Le Bourges, France. 16, 29, 32, 36 and 41 were the winning numbers and the Lucky Star numbers picked were 7 and 9. The game requires punters to elect five out of 50 Numbers and two out of nine Lucky Stars.
The Euro Millions has plans to be as big as Canadian Super 7 and USA`s Power-ball Mega Draw which is known to has had a $363 million jackpot winner in 2000. Governments of the three nations involved in the Euro-Lottery want the lottery win to occur in their respective territories. High gambling taxes have been introduced in the countries, which take a huge chunk of the winnings (in France, for instance, 27 per cent, the highest gambling tax).
