Poker guru and actor Ben Affleck and British singer Robbie Williams are going to participate in a $1.3 million poker celebrity competition, poker and online poker fans have just learned.
Celebrity poker players from around the world will visit Monte Carlo next March to try their hands at a competition which has been described as the European version of the World Poker Series. The winner will be able to enrich his or hew personal account with the big money jackpot, promised representatives of the competition.
The first participants to sign up for the game were the Daredevil actor, Affleck, and British hitmaker, Williams. Various sources report that other movie stars are to arrive in Monte Carlo. The Bourne Identity star Matt Damon and Moulin Rouge beauty Nicole Kidman are to participate in the competition as well. Other famous names from the world of sport, music and film, as well as poker professionals and amateurs will also gamble there.
According to BreakingNews, Affleck is considered a favourite in the championship due to his vast poker experience. The Daredevil managed to grab a $360,000 prize by winning the California State Poker Championship in June. He also took home a thousand dollars revealing the best hands in many other poker competitions.
However, organiser John Duthie told Femalefirst.co.uk that British stars such as Williams will give the Hollywood pack a run for their money.
"They're very good players. It's not just the American celebrities that can play," he added.
